Low Volume on PS5

If you’re experiencing low volume on PlayStation 5, check the following settings:

1. PS5 System Volume

Make sure the PS5 system volume is set to 100%.

Maxwell 2 does not control the PS5 system volume—this must be adjusted within the PS5 itself. If the system volume is low, maxing out the headset volume will not provide full output.

How to adjust:

  • Open the Quick Menu → Sound → set Volume to 100%
    or

  • Go to Settings → Sound → Volume → set to 100%

2. Game/Chat Balance

Although Game/Chat Balance is not supported on PS5, it still affects total output volume.

  • Keep the balance close to 50/50

  • Moving the balance away from center does not increase volume for one source

  • It reduces volume for the other source, limiting overall output

3. USB Port Issues (Noise or Distortion)

Not all PS5 USB ports perform equally with the Maxwell USB dongle.

  • Test all USB ports, including rear ports

  • Use the USB-A adapter if needed

  • Select the port with the cleanest sound and least distortion
