Greetings fellow traveler! In this article we will discuss briefly how Mobius prioritizes each of its three connection types. To preface this, it should be noted that Mobius automatically toggles between available connection types based on the priority system detailed here.
Let's get started!
Mobius has 3 connection types: Auxiliary (Aux), USB, and Bluetooth (BT). They are prioritized in this same order, meaning that Aux is assigned the highest priority while Bluetooth is assigned the lowest priority.
How does it work?
- Your Mobius is operating in USB mode, and you choose to plug in an Aux cable without removing your USB cable. Because the Aux connection is assigned a higher priority than your USB connection, your Mobius will automatically toggle into Aux mode. This will be confirmed by a voice cue saying, "Aux."
- Your Mobius is operating in Aux mode, and you want to connect it to your phone via BT. You put your Mobius into pairing mode (2 clicks of the power button), and successfully pair it to your phone. Because the BT connection is assigned a lower priority than the Aux connection, Mobius will not automatically toggle into BT mode unless you remove your Aux cable. This would also apply if you were trying to connect to BT mode from USB mode, as the USB connection is also assigned a higher priority than BT.
- Of course, you can always manually toggle between active connection types by double clicking your 3D button. Doing so will circumvent the priority system, which only affects the auto-toggle function of Mobius.

Convoluted Anecdote!
Person A, who we'll call Burt, is using his Mobius over a USB connection. Burt decides that he would very much like to enjoy a spot of music from his shiny new walkman. So, Burt locates his Aux cable and plugs one end into his headset, and the other into his walkman. Because the Aux connection is assigned the highest priority, Burt's Mobius automatically switches into Aux mode once this connection is made. Of course, any audio that was being sent through the USB cable will cease to play through the headphones at this point unless Burt either removes the Aux cable or manually toggles back to USB mode.
Shortly thereafter, Burt decides that he would like to visit his officially designated Food Repository for a nibble. Walkmen are expressly forbidden in all Food Repositories, but Burt refuses to go without his music. Being of resourceful make and in possession of a smartphone with Bluetooth functionality, Burt decides that now would be a great time to switch Mobius to Bluetooth mode. With two short clicks to its power button - CLICK CLICK - Burt's Mobius enters pairing mode. "Pairing," says Mobius. Burt then picks up his smartphone and navigates to its Bluetooth settings menu, where he locates his "Audeze Mobius 3D BT" device and selects it. "Paired," says Mobius, and so it was.
"This is great!" thinks Burt as he opens his preferred music player application within his smartphone and selects his favorite song. But, much to Burt's dismay, his favorite song isn't playing through his Mobius. "This is not great!" thinks Burt while sitting down to write a very angry email to support@audeze.com. Just then, Burt remembers his Mobius's Connection Priority system.
Burt unplugs the Aux cable from his Mobius. "USB," says Mobius as it automatically toggles back into USB mode. Burt then unplugs the USB cable from his Mobius. "Bluetooth," says Mobius, and Burt breathes a sigh of relief for, just then, he hears his favorite song playing through his headphones over his Bluetooth connection. Burt knows at once that all is right in his small corner of the Interspecies Colonization Initiative Starship, at least until the Borglebörts find him...

Recap
We hope you have enjoyed this educational anecdote. To recap, Mobius will automatically toggle between active connection types. If multiple connection types are active at once, Mobius will automatically toggle to whichever one has been assigned the highest priority. The Connection Priority order is as follows: Aux > USB > BT. This means that if you are running Mobius in USB mode, and then connect an Aux cable, your Mobius will automatically switch into Aux mode. However, if you are running in USB mode and then pair to another device over Bluetooth, your Mobius will not automatically toggle into Bluetooth mode unless both USB and Aux cables are disconnected, because Bluetooth connections are assigned the lowest priority.
NOTE: If you happen to find yourself accosted by Borglebörts during your travels, your Mobius can function as a bludgeoning tool. Any damage sustained by Mobius as a result of blunt-force trauma will not be covered under warranty.
