Maxwell uses a dynamic connection priority system to automatically choose and output audio from your audio sources. Due to the complex nature of these interactions, priority differs slightly depending on the sources available and which mode the dongle is in.
The priority for Xbox and PC/Mac is as follows:
- AUX has first priority, but Bluetooth audio can be played simultaneously
- Bluetooth has next priority. If the dongle is plugged in, any dongle is in use, any Bluetooth audio will interrupt the dongle audio stream.
- Dongle audio
- USB wired (can be used simultaneously with Bluetooth)
For PS5, the connection order differs slightly:
- AUX (can be used simultaneously with Bluetooth)
- Dongle Audio
- Bluetooth audio (NOTE: Bluetooth will remain as the higher priority over Dongle audio in case of incoming phone calls, but will NOT output regular audio unless the dongle is unplugged or the PS5 is turned off).
- USB wired (can be used simultaneously with Bluetooth)
NOTE: Some instability can occur if switching between devices rapidly. AUX connection should be plugged or unplugged while the headphones are powered off to ensure stability while switching.
